DIRECT AID PROGRAM (DAP) PROJECTS FUNDED IN 2006-2007

Kids Alive Lebanon DAP provided funds to Kids Alive Lebanon to set up a small elementary school in Nabaa for non-Lebanese children resident in Lebanon who are unable to attend mainstream schools. DAP funded the purchase of cupboards, bookcases, display boards, heaters for classrooms, a computer and a printer, rugs and carpets, books, educational games and sports equipment. DAP funded also the roofing of the outside play area to make it accessible to children throughout the year.

SESOBEL  SESOBEL is a non profit organization based providing assistance to children with disabilities. DAP funds purchased IT equipment and accessories for use in Sesobel’s special education programs.

Kabbat Beshumra Charitable Association  DAP funded the construction of eight bathrooms for an orphanage being constructed by the Kabbat Beshumra Charitable Association in Akkar, north Lebanon. The project will provide accommodation and education to more than three hundred orphans and children from very poor families.

Cedar Home  DAP funded the construction of an outside play area, including playground equipment, for the Cedar Home organisation. Cedar Home, based in Jal El Dib, provideS accommodation and education to disadvantaged children

Autism Learning Institute for Applied Behaviour Analysis (ALI for ABA)     ALI for ABA is a non profit educational facility in Hadath providing education to disadvantaged children with learning difficulties, with a focus on autism. DAP funded the purchase of a music-based auditory stimulation program to enhance listening, learning and communication skills for autistic children. DAP funds were also used to purchase educational material and IT equipment to improve language, reading, spelling and social skills.

Kinge Foundation for Development in Akkar DAP funded the purchase of medical equipment for use in the Kinge Foundation Dispensary in Tebbaneh, Tripoli. The Dispensary provides low-cost health care to people on low incomes.

Ahluna  DAP funded the purchase of computers for Ahluna’s Education Centre in Saida. The computers are used by up to 200 disadvantaged children each academic year, with tutoring provided by volunteers. Ahluna provide a range of services to disadvantaged families including seeking job opportunities for women, providing basic health care services and boosting after-school education services in order to reduce school dropout rates.

Sidon Orphan Welfare Society  DAP funded the purchase of prosthetic materials for the Sidon Orphan Welfare Society. The Sidon Orphan Welfare Society provides care to disadvantaged children including prosthetic limb fitting, rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

Municipality of Abbasiyeh, Tyre  DAP funds assisted the Municipality of Abbassiyeh, Tyre to establish a children’s playground in the Municipality public garden, providing children and parents with a place to meet and play.

The International Specialized School  DAP funded the purchase of a diverse range of educational materials for the International Specialized School to aid in the development of children’s primary motor skills, communications skills and learning skills. The International Specialized School in Abbassiyeh, Tyre, runs a mainstreaming program for children with special needs. The program aims to strengthen and develop children’s physical, mental and social capabilities.
