DIRECT AID PROGRAM (DAP) PROJECTS FUNDED IN 2007-2008

Al Tilal Institute DAP provided funds to Al Tilal Institute to set up a technical training support for rural and tourism development in the Jbeil-Batroun area. DAP funded the purchase of three computers, three printers and accessories. This project complements a project launched in 2006 entitled “Rural Tourism Circuit” funded by AusAID and Reledev Australia.

Al Zaiter Charitable Association DAP funded the purchase of medical equipment for use in the Al Zaiter Dispensary in Iaat, Baalbeck. The Dispensary provides low-cost health care to people on low incomes.

Lebanese Autism Society (LAS) LAS is a non profit educational facility providing autistic children with special educational programs. DAP funded the purchase of classroom furniture and educational materials to improve learning and practical skills.

Al Hadi Institute DAP funded the purchase of technical equipment for the introduction of the Smart Board Teaching Technology for visually impaired children to enhance learning through motivation and interactive programs.

Lebanese Organization for Studies and Training (LOST) DAP funded the purchase of classroom furniture for kindergarten classes in 7 different public schools in the Baalbeck Caza. Kindergarten teachers were also trained in new teaching techniques, children’s rights and classroom decoration in a bid to improve the educational environment for kindergarten-age children.

Medical Dispensary in Akkar DAP funded the purchase of medical equipment for use in the Association’s Dispensary in Mashta Hassan, Akkar. The Dispensary provides low-cost health care to people on low incomes.

The Cooperative Association for Rural Development in Majdel DAP funded the purchase a water tank and pump for the Cooperative in Majdel, Akkar. The portable water supply will enable the cooperative to maintain higher stock numbers and improve their income and stock care.

Fondation Pere Afif Osseiran The Foundation has established a boarding school providing education and technical training to disadvantaged boys. DAP funded the rehabilitation of the walk-in-cooler in the institution.

Foundation for Women’s Development in Akkar DAP funded the purchase of a dental machine for use in the Foundation’s Dispensary in Halba, Akkar. The Dispensary provides low-cost health care to people on low incomes.

Women’s Humanitarian Organisation (WHO) WHO provides community development services to families in the Palestinian camp of Burj El Barajneh. DAP funded the purchase of mobility aids for physically disabled children and kindergarten playground equipment to encourage mobility through play.
